I hate to give a poor review but I was disappointed in the experience. As a confessed chocoholic, I had to come to the museum. Made the wander from downtown (a lovely walk along the coast) to find and experience the history of chocolate and how it was made, but was disappointed. Didn't find the investment of time or Euros... It's a little off the beaten path (a good twenty-minute walk from downtown), and the movie that starts the tour is only in French. Most of the museum is dedicated to old chocolate advertising and antique chocolate molds and machinery. But if you're looking for something different to do in Biarritz, it's a nice diversion and educational about how the... More

Boring film all in French. Small museum filled with artefacts you can't touch or even take pictures of - not that anyone would be very interested in seeing photos of them. The lady at the end serving the hot chocolate (you are given a tiny tasting cup) was very rude and basically shooed you out of the museum even though... More

Really enjoyed this museum. While it was compact it was full of very interesting objects and illustrated the development of chocolate through the use of a short film (in French, but it was easy to follow if you didn't have the language). The moulds and posters were so varied and showed chocolate and attitudes towards it through the ages. The... More

Interesting museum with all old labels, machines, etc... The film at the beginning informs you of the process to make chocolate. Great samples of home made chocolate when you buy your entrance ticket. The choc shop is beautiful but pretty pricey.

If you are on Biarritz, I would definitely recommend a visit to the Chocolate Museum. We found the video very interesting to understand how chocolate is made - from plantation to the shop, and the old signs, moulds, etc. were very interesting. The shot of delicious hot chocolate at the end of the tour was a nice touch too. This... More

Would not normally have gone to this type of museum but ran out of ideas when it was raining for the 3rd day. Was very impressed with the friendly and helpful staff, their knowledge and the content/displays on offer. Well worth a visit.
