I only found out this existed after we got to Bordeaux, but it is an extremely beautiful Gothic cathedral. I actually liked it better than Notre Dame in Paris, because it feels like it's more "used" as a church and less of a tourist destination. The organ is amazing, too, I would highly recommend trying to catch it while they're... More

I really love it. The cathedral facade is in restoration now, they are cleaning it, and the part which is already clean looks fantastic More

Although going through renovations at the moment, a visit is a must. From the outside you just do not capture the amount of work that had/has gone in to building this cathedral. It doesn't cost to visit either. More

The Cathedral was consecrated in 1096, but there is not much remaining of the romanesque building. The cathedral is mostly in gothic style, it might not be able to compete with the masterpieces of northern France (like Amiens and Chartres), but it is certainly a sight to not miss during your visit to Bordeaux. The cathedral and the medieval churches... More

Easily accessible from other attractions in the city centre, or just jump on the tram and get off at Hotel de Ville. Entry is free, so why not pop in to admire it? Then visit the Tour Pey-Berland right next door for a view of the cathedral's architecture from above. More

I spent part of a pleasant afternoon walking through this cathedral, which was built over 800 years. The history is clearly displayed, from the simple inital wall built in the 11th century through its completion in the 19th century. I found the exterior, which is partially cleaned and partially soiled over the ages, to be most interesting. The interior decoration... More

We attended a organ recital in the Cathedral and would recommend this as it was beautiful and uplifting, especially in the Cathedral setting with brilliant acoustics. We had found out about it by chance when attending a service. There was no enterance fee to the Cathedral and the recital was free, donations are anticipated however these are at a level that...
