Far bigger inside than the exterior would suggest. A fairly exhaustive folk history of the Alsace areas, arta, and customs. Good value for the history buff. See it on the Strasbourg pass.

Of course it has to be visited to complete the overview on the region traditions and style. Absolutely not boring, it is arranged inside a tycal alsacian house and reproducing in each room and daily life moment. Not to be missed.
Unfortunately, this museum is not as exciting as the locals think. It was very hyped so we went to check it out. It's basically a lot of closets and costumes. The buildings are very beautiful and classical for Strasbourg. The woman in the reception picked up her PERSONAL cellphone, even though we were waiting to pay the entrance - which...

Proper historical explanations, quality artifacts and with an extra dimension, the museum also shows how the museum was raised in the 1920s.
This is boring. A collection of old Alsacien junk, poorly presented and lacking information or detail about the objects. If you are an enthusiast of old wooden wardrobes and tacky period clothing stuck on manakins though, this is the place for you!
We really enjoyed our visit to this museum. It gives great detail about the structure of half-timbered homes, traditional Alsacien life, dress, furniture, and customs. It is much larger than we anticipated. The audio was very helpful, and made the experience complete. Just a heads up, it is neither wheel chair or stroller friendly.
This museum is a perfect place to learn the history and customs of Alsace. It is beautifully and thoughtfully arranged. The audio tour gives much information for each display. We loved the displays of traditional clothing, furniture and kitchem items. The museum gives you a real appreciation for this area of France. Do not miss it!
Buy a museum pass and visit here after the Musee Historique across the bridge. This complements the other well, taking the broader political and economic themes of the Historique inside Alsatian houses and families. There are free audio guides and lots of descriptions to assist making your way around the museum, which includes examples of costumes, furniture, toys, religious artifacts...

This museum is a short walk from the Historical Museum across the river. For us it was far more interesting and a really personal look at what it was to be Alsatian. Situated in three half wood homes it was easy to pass time walking the old wooden floors and along the old passages.
