This was the first cathedral I've seen in years, and I forgot how amazing they are. It's only a slow 15-minute walk from the train station and you walk all though town to get there. It took us a while just to find the cathedral. We thought it would really stick out and be easy to see, but make sure... More

This magnificent cathedral is a interesting on the outside as the inside. It is free to walk in and visit the gorgeous, detailed work of arts throughout the entire Cathedral. You can go on the observatory deck for a nominal fee but the weather was rainy and cold, so I decided to forego the experience. I'd imagine it would provide... More

The cathedral has a starkly imposing exterior and a dark and quite gloomy interior. It has few objects of interest and only one or two chapels. The cathedral somehow lacks serenity. There is no information or audio tour available which makes it difficult to appreciate. The clock is truly extraordinary.

One can only imagine how someone 700+ years ago felt when he saw this massive, beautiful cathedral for the first time. Even with today's technology would this marvelous building be impressive and it was simply breathtaking for me. Definitely worth spending time here.

Any Gothic cathedral is a masterpiece of the human spirit. But spend enough time in Europe, and you can't help but start to rank them. In my book, Strasbourg is overrated--it's an average cathedral. The exterior is fantastic, and will reward a lot of time. The interior is dark and close (again, by the inflated standards of cathedrals), with average... More

Entry is free to the Cathedral, as it should be. In terms of purely 'look and feel' I would actually rate the Cathedral only the 3rd or 4th Best religious building in Strasbourg, easily bettered by the two English Churches and the Catholic Saint Pierre Le Jeune. Still, the Clock and Pillar are of interest and entry is free with... More

This Cathedral is awesome! Amazing architecture! The interior is also great, with many window works, chapels and religious art works. It is impressive. You can't miss.

This cathedral awes you with its detailed beauty and structural detail. The main steeple towers some 400 feet plus over the town, and the stone carving throughout is amazing. Started in the 11th century and finished in the 15th century, this building amazes at every turn. The stained glass windows are stories unto themselves. Standing in the main section you... More

Very amazing Gothic cathedral for the front facade is full of very fine stoneworks and incredible amount of details. The pillars are so tall and slim that they look like they could break any time. I just don't see how they can build them 700 years ago with such precisions and techniques. Don't miss the astronomical clock display at noon.

Strasbourg is an important French and EU centre, its Cathedral is big, beautiful inside and out, it has a very tall single spire. Undoubtedly the chief attraction of the cathedral is the magnificent astronomical clock which is a highly advanced and very attractive complex mechanical feat which combines outstanding skills in engineering, mathematics and physics! Strasbourg and its cathedral should... More
