Great museum. Nice to actually get on and sit on some of the buses. Maybe they could invest a little in the heating as it was freezing inside during our visit -and this was in May! Really friendly and enthusiastic staff. Very reasonable entry prices and interesting gift shop.

We visited today with our two boys, 5 and 7. They loved it! Plenty of buses to go on and off and even a wooden one that they drove for ages. Extra activities such as dressing up and colouring for the boys was brilliant and they even had a treasure hunt that if they got the questions right they got... More

My daughter and I visited for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the old buses and artefacts. There's lots to see and read. The video about the old bus being used to live in was interesting. Seeing the Clipper card machine on the orange bus brought back so many memories. All the staff were very friendly ,approachable... Whilst the museum name might imply something more, this is essentially a museum of buses/coaches with the prototype Manchester tram and bus support vehicles as extra features. A bus enthusiast could spend several hours here - probably all day - and someone with just a general interest in local history could easily spend a couple of hours. At £4 for... More

We (my wife and I) happened to be passing and because I happen to like all things mechanical we popped in for a nose around. If you have any interests in busses, this place is better than Mecca. For non bus enthusiasts there is more than enough information and context about what was going on in Manchester at the time... More

We took our grandson to the museum. Plenty of parking outside.Good selection of buses and trams to go inside. Bit cold inddoors, so be well wrapped up. He loved going on the buses and particulary loved the newest feature -the tram. He loved closing the tram doors and was bossing us to get on board. he is only 3 but... More

Thanks for your comments. Our heating is not coping well with the cold weather! We are hoping to open more buses in the collection to allow the public to compare the seats and space of yesteryear with today's buses. Staff are able to allow access to most buses if asked, however there are some older ones that are restricted to... More

Good collection of buses but a very crowded space. Not able to go on board except for one or two. It is really a bus / tram museum not general transport. A long way out but not worth the trip or the entry fee in my opinion.

Thanks for your response. Our Museum is in a Grade 2 listed bus depot built in 1928 as an addition to the adjacent tram depot currently occupied by First in Greater Manchester as a bus depot. Hence why it is around two miles from the city centre. The Museum is run by volunteers and we rely on admissions to cover... More
