I loved to see some old war memorabilia. It was free to enter, but donations requested, and that is good. I was a bit disappointed that as a lot of Salford folk went to war and many were Merchant Seamen, they did not rate a mention as such. Army did, but Merchant men still fight for recognition in my eyes.
Our second visit to this musuem and went to see two specific exhibitions..Iraq Photographs by Sean Smith and Saving Lives Frontline Medicine in a Century of Conflict. Both were fasinating and well worth a visit. Staff are friendly and very helpful and The Metro makes it so easy to get to.
Impressive building housing interesting, educational & sometimes very moving exhibits from all theatres of war from World War1 & 2 to the present conflict in Afghanistan. Well presented exhibits & memorabilia suitable for people covering all ages from the quite young to the 'very mature' & a gift shop selling small mementos of times past.
The interactive exhibits & "Horrid...

A great modern building housing a very well thought out museum. The views from the air shard are worth it on a clear day. The building materials themselves are wearing very well and the atmosphere inside is appropriate to the content. The changing exhibitions make regular visits worth the trip

Thoroughly great afternoon with my kids. Educational, and very well laid out. It is great value for money. Go learn about war, be excited by some of the exhibits.A really "must see" place
We visited this museum recently during a week with the grandchildren in Manchester . It is really a wonderful museum - the atmosphere and the quality of the experience is amazing - our grandchildren were completely fascinated by the whole experience. In particular the exhibition on Saving Lives - on healthcare and surgery in battle zones was absolutely brilliant ....

No fee for this museum, and that is quite alright.
The museum tells the story mostly of WWI and WWII.
The WWI exhibition is quite interesting with some good photos.
The WWII exhibition is very average, if you already know the history. I was a bit disappointed, because the story told is very much all you might know in advance,...

An interesting exterior with a less than inviting entrance. Admission is free but you are encouraged to buy a guide book (currently £4.95). A few quite interesting displays but not much in the way of memorabilia and a lot regarding the overall impact of war
