Lovely little museum with good and varied exhibitions on ground floor (always worth keeping an eye out for upcoming exhibitions online, but there's always something) a step back in time for Basingstoke history on the first floor, and some lovely archaeological collections on the second floor. Sweet little tea room and gift shop are lovely.
Well worth a visit if...

Nice museum to wander in at lunchtime to see what exhibition is on in the front gallery. Main permanent exhibition comprehensively covers Basingstoke area history from pre-historic times. Pleasant coffee and souvenir shop too.
Interesting exhibitions, nice range of gifts, friendly welcoming staff. Coffee shop is disappointing. It's dark, lacks atmosphere, limited food and snacks, and coffee is weak and tasteless.
A small local town centre museum, nice building, with small educational and thematic exhibitions, mainly suitable for kids. Underwent a make-over a couple of years ago. As an adult you will be probably bored, but a cosy stop when at the city centre, shopping. The cafe is not special in terms of view, but nice home made-style products, rational prices...

Boring, small museum with a few photographs and a few shabby looking exhibits. Coffee in the cafe was expensive, so were the fridge magnets and other stuff sold on premises. Staff was not great either. Total waste of time. Will never go again. Wonder who manages that place and what is the point of it. Learnt absolutely nothing visiting that...

New exhibiton on Film worn otfits. Children loved the actors wearing some of the Roman costumes whilst looking at the exhibits
Interesting visiting exhibitions. Great space but sadly underused. Shop provides local publications and there's a quiet coffee shop too.

Two hours to kill in Basingstoke seemed interminable, until I found the Willis museum. Free to enter, and this summer showing a brilliant exhibition of Dave McKean's work, the permanent exhibition left me thinking that I had no where near enough time to discover all that the town had to offer. There are interesting artifacts from neolithic times to the...
