Very interesting stuff I didn't know about Waterford, great exhibits, videos, good value, great friendly staff
This is a well set up museum. It was built to display artifacts that were unearth in Waterford. Very interesting.
This is a wonderful museum. Its very new and there are a few basic teething problems. The lift doors are incredibly sensitive and opne if you breathe on them! Also the shop didn't seem to have anything much that related to the exhibits or the history of Waterford but that may be just because they had all their Christmas stuff... More
Many thanks for your visit to the museum and delighted that you enjoyed it. As it is 'that time of year', we have rotated our stock for the Christmas period to reflect the season. I am sorry that we didn't have any of the normal related items to the museum exhibits on sale. More
On arrival I didn't think much of the museum as the building is hyper-modern and doesn't look to host a medieval museum. We got a guided tour and the tour guide knew his stuff and made it easy for us to understand the history. Very enjoyable
Waterford is an old city, and it goes back to days of the 900 s. New excavations have been ongoing in the area, this museum does little to show the start of The trading city ofWaterford. The nest 200 years before the Norman invasion.
This is a beautiful museum, built on the foundations of one of the oldest buildings in Waterford. There is an audio self guided tour but I would recommend the guided tour which runs every hour as this takes you through the ages of Waterford in chronological order. Very informative and interesting.
A magnificent new museum incorporating modern architecture and medieval stonework is the entrance to a wonderfully presented history of medieval Waterford with two video presentations, models of the city at various periods in its history and magnificently preserved artifacts. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to enjoy it.
We enjoyed the self guided tour. I just wished there was even more. It was set up so kids would really enjoy the museum. All in all it did give a great view of what Waterford had been and how it changed over the years. For kids they have activities , dress up, and more.
The medieval vestments are any amazing treasure. Well worth the visit....even though I am not crazy about dioramas in museums and there are lots of them here, some were done quite well and gave a good sense of Waterford's unique history.
