This house is one of the jewels of the area which normaly is a must to visit but unfortunately due to one of its guides, we cannot speak for the others... highly dissapointing. If you visit this house you need skates, the guide 'ran' through his brief explanations of the rooms, we were not allowed to be interested in anything... More

Muckross House is very nice and the tour is worthy. While it is very nicely explained by tour guides, we thought it was too rushed at times and we didn't have time to admire some of the beautiful things in the house. It was a pity that no photography was allowed... The gardens are beautiful and i recommend to walk... More

We took elderly relatives to Muckross House not knowing if there would be a wheelchair available to borrow or not - but there was, and the house is fitted with elevators that give the wheelchair access to almost every bit of the guided tour. You have to wait for a tour, so we filled in the time by taking a... More

Our group - two sixty-fives and two forties - spent a whole day in the park. The more adventuresome headed out on several hikes and the mom (me) thoroughly enjoyed the house tour and gardens. The tour guide was well versed and managed to keep everyone in our group (including Swedish tourists & a young child) interested in her presentation.... More

I've been to Muckross House before, and it never disappoints. This trip I brought along three people who had never traveled out of the US. They loved the manor house and the views, as we took a jaunting cart from the manor to Torc Falls and then to the abbey ruins. Our driver was informative, and the spring greens and... More

This was a gem! A combination of history, irish culture, and stunning views. We are so glad we made it a point to stop here on our tour of Ireland. We spend a handful of hours just looking around. I almost enjoyed the plants and vegitation here better than I did at Powerscourt near Dublin. And, unlike Powerscourt you get... More

We did not go inside the house as we wanted to enjoy the grounds. The gardens are very well maintained & with the nice weather, we enjoyed the views. More

I always say "its hard to believe someone owned all of this and lived here" when I visit these "stately homes". the gardens are impressive, and the house is okay if youre into that sort of thing. I wouldnt rate it as a family day out, as the kids wouldnt enjoy it a whole lot. More

Both Muckross House itself and its surrounding gardens are not only beautiful and well worth exploring, but are also of historic interest. I would highly recommend a guided tour of the house. The informative tour guides give a fascinating account of the history of the estate particularly the connection with Queen Victoria. The interior of the house has been extremely... More
