The park is new, and a work in progress. It has a new nicely gravelled path (wide enough for a car) that takes you on a walking tour around the park. There is a nicely preserved ring fort, stone circle, famine house ruins, and various other historical artifacts that the track leads you around. There is some signage, but there... More

Do stop and take a look! We only found the Bonane Heritage Park by chance while travelling to Glengariff saw the sign so decide to stop and take a look, very glad that we did! The walk is beautiful and the sunset was amazing, the whole place is enchanting. The people of Bonane have worked very hard making the paths... More

Wow! I can't believe we missed this the first time we visited Ireland two years ago. Follow the road signs from the road between Kenmare and Glengarriff and go down the country lane for about half a mile or so. We so very nearly decided to carry on straight through to Glengarriff but I'm so glad we didn't. What a... More

We were in Kenmare for the Easter holidays when we discovered this little jewel. When we arrived we were the only car on the car park and for a moment was unsure if it was open. We were about to turn around and leave but noticed the door on the little wooden hut (used as the entrance to the park)... More

I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t made much of an effort in the past to visit some of the sites that are almost on my doorstep, however, this year the summer holiday was sacrificed as we attempt to ‘tighten our belts’ a little and so we decided to do a number of day trips from where we live in... Bonane Heritage Park is the Crown Jewel in the Kingdom of Kerry and my visit there was probably the highlight of my recent trip to Ireland. The park is situated just off the N71 between Kenmare and Glengarriff about 7 miles from Kenmare. The setting alone makes this park worth a visit. The scenery is magnificent and the sense of... More

I stumbled upon the park on accident while driving to the Ring of Kerry from Cork. Needless to say, I didn't end up making the Ring of Kerry this day because what I found here was so astounding. In one park I found a Ring Fort, Fulachta Fiadh and Stone Circle -ALL- of which were designed for solstice alignments in... More

We were in Kenmare for the day, and decided to drop off at the heritage park after lunch as we were looking for something of interest out in the fresh air. We found this place good value and a really enjoyable place to spend the afternoon. It was very peaceful and a lovely walk around. Definitely worth a visit More

Bonane Heritage Park is well worth visiting, the effort by such a small community is amazing. The site itself is well laid out, lots of information and the views are beautiful. Do make the effort, enjoy the day and support a worth while project. More
