This is a lovely site to look around on a sunny day. The formal gardens around the ruins of the castle are stunning, and from here a couple of walks lead off into the surrounding woodland and countryside to take in the stunning views of this part of Skye. More

A very informative museum set in lovely gardens and surrounds. It provided a very good insight to the bygone years of clans and vikings and the history of Clan Donald. More

Lovely tearoom with fresh tea & scones. Waitress service a wee bit slow. Very clean and modern loos! Gardens well kept with amazing views back to the mainland. Very interesting and well laid out museum. We came over as foot passengers on ferry from Mallaig and walked here in about 10-15 mins. It was well signposted. The ferry over and... More

This is a beautiful place to spend the day. The gardens are magnificent and the people friendly and helpful. We spent the day wandering the grounds, took a tour of the clan house and had lunch in the cafe. All of it was great. My friends were all of Scottish decent and had an opportunity to explore the history of... More

The museum was particularly interesting while the ruined castle was a little bit of a let down More

The museum is small but very well laid out and uses the artefacts it has to good effect. Overall with the grounds, the walks, and the ruins it makes a good day out whatever your age. The stable tea rooms are also very good - whether you want a snack or a meal. More

Had been several years ago and stopped for a snack before crossing to Mallaig. Unfortunately cafe was closed for a wedding reception but staff friendy and knowledgable about local eating places. Museum and gardens well worth a visit. More

My husband and I visited here in October of 2011 as part of our tour of Skye. The grounds were beautiful and the ruins were evocative. The surprise was the museum: it was excellent! You could really feel the history. It was well organized by period, with atmospheric Celtic music as well as listening stations at each exhibit. The gift... More

Having driven two hours to visit the Clan Donald and expected to get some lunch at the stables we were disappointed. Despite the roadside sign informing us it was open and the web site declaring it is open 7 days a week, it was closed as there was a wedding. There is not an awful lot of alternative places to...
