I first visited the battlefield in the 1970s when it was covered in trees, had a road through the middle and the visitor centre was a cottage with a few trestle tables. I have to say I enjoyed that visit more. There is something soulless about the new visitor centre although elements of the multimedia materials are good. In no... More

An interesting historical site and have visited many times however, since it was revamped I am disappointed. Yes the in house exhibition is very good but feel that the actual battle field has been made far to tidy. The graves of the Highlanders used to be set in amongst heather but now surrounded by well mown grass, it just feel... More

One can not come to Scotland without visiting the famous Culloden Battlefield where the Scots lost to the English in the mid-Eighteenth century battle. This is where the Scots lost their freedom forever. Now a part of the UK, this battlefield signifies the end of the clans, tartans, kilts, and all things Scottish. Queen Victoria rekindled a bit of Scottish... More

The battlefield itself has been restored to its condition at the time of the battle, but I found it very windy. However, the exhibition itself had us talking for days. It was so very informative and we filed a lot of gaps in our historical knowledge. The film room (not suitable for small children) was amazing. There was plenty of... More

The exhibition is excellent! It tells both sides and gives one a very good idea of the conflict. The shop has good prices on sale.

They have done a great job in the history of the Jacobite Uprising at their visitor center. Very informative and they do a nice job of breaking down a really complicated history. The Battlefield was FREEZING on the day we went and I would have liked to spend more time outdoors. If you aren't Scottish or really in to history... More

For someone with Scottish ancestry this attraction is a must. I am 7th generation Australian but have a lot of Scottish Ancestry I always wanted to go to Culloden and I have been lucky enough to do it twice. The second time was just as moving as the first. Culloden battle field is well worth the visit

The visitor center does a great job explaining what led up to the battle, with parallel walls showing the Hanoverian and Stewart maneuverings. It then culminates in the battle, which leads you out onto the battlefield itself. The GPS audio guide does a great job explaining what happened at different points on the field.

We stopped off here on our way to Brora in Sutherland. It was very interesting and there was a visitor centre, although we didn't visit that, we just did the walk of the battle field. There are various boards telling you what happened where etc. on the actual battlefield. You can walk dogs on it - we did. It is... More

Took our American cousins to this attraction yesterday. Our clan roots go back to the Battle of Culloden. The interactive displays are excellent. The layout, from both perspectives is brilliant, the surround sound Battle Room is so incredibly moving and the Battlefield (a designated war grave) is easy to get around with designated paths and walks of different lengths. All... More
