The more I go to the West End of Glasgow, the more I love it. So different from the thumping concrete heart of the city, the west end is more civilised and well, leafy. Life is a bit slower hear and you should slow down your pace and enjoy your surroundings. Visit Hogwarts, (my name for Glasgow University), it’s free... More

Visitors must go here. Many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. Don't miss all the smaller places up lanes and backstreets. All very well lit and safe. Festival in June, but plenty of fun to be had all year long.

We stayed at the West end in Glasgow for a 3 day visit, it was close to the museums, the university and the botanic garden. Lovely area as it was safe and easy up get to the city by the subway or bus in about 10mins.

Some really intriguing architecture, and the nearby campus is a gem. On the other hand, a lot of boring same-old-stuff shops and restaurants that you can find anywhere and everywhere. Maybe if we'd been able to spend more time...

Contrary to what we had been led to believe, Glasgow is a happening place and the west end is where it's at. Trendy, vibrant, something for everyone. From the Botanical Gardens to the University of Glasgow to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to a strop down the various lanes your senses will be engaged. Great pubs and restaurants. Highly... Try to get there for the West End Festival from Byres Road - colourful and lively. I was there on a lovely hot day and was amazed by the turn out and good humour. Great for kids!

From the lovely open spaces like kelvingrove park to the art gallery and museum, there's something for everyone in the west end. There are too many coffee shops to mention and plenty of very nice bars like bobar and oran mor and top notch restaurants... More

You just cannot beat the beautiful west end of Glasgow. It's not only very green and full of stunning buildings and loads of lovely Glasgow Red Sandstone Tenements, it's buzzing. You really cannot visit the west end of Glasgow and say you were bored. It has a cultured atmosphere but not pretentious, you just feel good being there.

Great mix of green spaces ,restaurants, bars and culture. Byres Road and Ashton Lane have a good buzz, with a mix of students, tourists and locals patronising the local pubs and diners. A spread of cuisines, prices and decors make it a place for every taste. Go to the Lismore for a good pub with beautiful stained glass,No 16 Byres Road... More
