I was so excited to visit this beautiful house, but was disappointed to learn that is it in private hands and so there is an entrance fee.

Really lovely lunch at a reasonable price. The surrounding grounds are peaceful and the walled garden is a little haven of peace and quiet.

My visits are usually at the weekend and in early or mid afternoon. it is always fairly busy and has a really nice relaxed atmosphere. The food has always been good and the menu varies a good... Built in the 1990's to Rennie Macintosh's own drawings, the entrance hall is rather gloomy, but the recorded guide, free with entrance explains why. The main room is the music room which makes one gasp on entering. So light, with the sun streaming in and walls and furniture painted in very light colours. Furniture very much in the Macintosh style... More

An ideal place to visit to see some of Charles Rennie McIntosh designs and structures. Available for private functions. No photography allowed inside the House. Gardens and setting are beautiful with outdoor sculpture etc. Guides are very helpful.

This is an amazing building, built long after the death of the architect (Charles Rennie Mackintosh), but with great spaces and managed very stylishly. An extremely good place for lunch, with a wonderful walled garden nearby, as well as a great childrens' play park immediately beside it.

Its lovely. Lovely for weddings etc too. The restaurant does a lovely lunch - very nice cooking. If you want to see round the house (which does... More
