This is my favorite part of Edinburgh, steeped in history, great architecture. Well served by great restaurants, bars, shops and sights. High tenement buildings with small alleys full of character. When in Edinburgh this is a must!

A walk around the old town is a must for all tourists. There are ghost walks at night, guided by the best leaders, there are souviner shops to die for, and all shop keepers are friendly and have a great sense of humour. It definately brings out a great atmosphere of scotland. I prefer this over the new town.

Edinburgh's Old Town is unlike anything I have ever seen. Allthough most of the buildings are over 700 years old, they are often more than 7 stories high! The closes, small alleys between streets are narrow and mysterious, the Vaults in the old bridges used to house people. Besides paying a visit it is definetely worth ist to do a... More

What is not to love about visiting Edinburgh, from wondering through the old streets and laneways, hopping off and on the buses, through the wonderful museums and art galleries. So much to do, does not matter what the weather it is well worth the visit. Yes I can understand about the tourist sales area, but that is just part of... More

I loved the old buildings, the brickpaved streets. It has atmosphere, but I found all the modern touristshops ruined some of the impression. The last thing I want to find when Im in a historic place is "made in China" items.
