Autumn and winter in the forest. Wonderful place - and not many cyclists about which was a bonus for me
The trail faeries never stop their amazing and the trails keep improving The red route is still amazing, the improvements to the blue keep it fun. Overall great fun and we will be back! My advice is to come mid week when you can really blast the blue without fear of scaring newbies ;-)
If you take a car they will charge you £5 for parking but if you cycle in the trails are free so again the motorist is subsidising all other trail users. If you do not wish to park at Glentress you could park in Peebles and use Janets Brae as your warm up or park at Cordrona and use the... More
An amazing place to pedal. All the routes are flowing & well designed. There's a lot of climbing to start routes (so a good level of fitness is a prerequisite!), but the effort is really worth it. The new visitor centre is nice, but lacks the atmosphere of the old Hub cafe - it's such a shame it was closed... More
I was down at Glentress mountain bike trails yesterday for the first time with my twin brother who had been a few times previously. Having had road tyres on my mountain bike for a few months I did notice a big difference returning to off road tyres. We tried one of the green routes to start with and build up... More
The trails and parks are brilliant, it's just a shame it's a) so busy and b) so, SO clearly better funded than all of the other Stanes combined. Glentress has showers, a huge cafe and spanking new bike shop - Dalbeattie only recently got a loo, Ae's shop only just re-opened and Mabie's is shut. Says it all really.
Love the flows Glentress trails. As I say best trail centre in the uk. Black is arduous but well worth the effort. Red is superb and blue is fun no matter who you are.
Did blue route the other night and can't say how much I enjoyed it. I'm a real novice to riding off road and is was a real confidence booster. Really recommended!
Amazing trails, well designed, hit them right and you can get a beautiful flow going with some exhilarating speed, some of the best trails in Europe IMO. The trail centre (bike shop and cafe) are great and would love to see facilities like that at other centres back here in Ireland. Food was good in the cafe and there was... More
