Great for a lovely stroll in all weather. Try taking a picnic and watching the sun set, maybe an option for summer!
You can't fail to be impressed by the mechanics of it, and the walk over is very pleasant and flat ! Stopped to watch boats going through, also the swans, and viewed the different sights, Fascinating yellow line piece of art work.................forget the name but it was very clever !
This is an interesting outdoor experience. It is a good walk on a nice day, the mechanism you can see from the pathway is impressive. We enjoyed walking across it, but there is not much stuff nearby, so our walk was somewhat extended to find a pub for lunch. I dod not see a visitor centre. If there is one,... More
Def worth a walk to the Barrage, looks a long way ( approx 1 mile from the Bay harbour) but really worth it. Obtain a map from your hotel etc (or maybe the museum?) and it will show you the walks to take. Going clockwise, you walk past the Dr Who and the Boat exhibition and this would def be... More
Took a break from the city and went on a pleasant walk around the bay. We stopped at the barrage and observed some boats entering and leaving the bay - interesting if you are into your engineering.
This is a great place to visit by one of the several shuttle boats that cross from Mermaid Quay. Once at the Barrage it is possible to walk back along a very interesting dedicated pathway. There is also a great restaurant near the Barrage.
I run the barrage almost every day and during the summer it's the best route ever as you get to watch the sunset over Cardiff Bay. There is also an outdoor gym which is great for a bit of cardio training in the middle of a run. Makes for a lovely setting for a romantic walk too with plenty of... More
forget the busy Penarth to Cardiff Roads, try this way, a bit longer but better for you, your lungs & congestion. Also you can do the bay both sides which gives you nice options using the Pont y Werin Bridge as well.
Good walk/cycle from the bay with a lovely park, outdoor gym and cafe. We had a picnic although i didnt see the kids - they took their sandwiches and ran! nice place to sit and watch the yachts - and the world go by. A tad windy but you are at the seaside and it feels fresh!
