We went here for the first time a few weeks ago, taking our 2 children (aged 9 and 7) and our labrador. If you don't like walking - don't bother. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the beach from the car park, in parts its quite a difficult walk but we all managed it fine. The beach was so... More

Great day out, have been coming here for over 30yrs.Still the same (apart form Candlesone campsite).Great sand dunes for the kids to play on.Take food and sit on dunes. You can walk to beach (1/2 hour) if you want or just stay round the dunes.Theres a car park with a small charge and that's it for spending.

Peaceful. Lots of places for the kids to hide and let off steam . Great place for a picnic. Bring your sledge as there is a high dune you can slide down.

Its wild and romantic, quiet as well when we visited. Sand dunes and windswept beach. Arduous walk from the car park but well worth it.

This is such a great place to go if you like walking and tiring little legs out. Whether you are an adult or a child the fun you can have here is endless. Adult rolling from top to bottom is a must!!

These sand dunes stretch out for miles, and a photo taken here could be mistaken for the Sahara! I had not expected the sand dunes to be so mountainous, and the day I had here was not one to be forgotten. I loved rolling down the dunes, and there are many fun walks leading in & out of everywhere. I... More

We used to walk here when I was a boy. Sun, sand and sea perfect combinations. Apparently some scenes from Lawrence of Arabia were filmed here. I don't know if it's true but I do know that Olympic athletes and rugby teams train here !

With or without the dogs the walks through the sand dunes down to the sea and up to the river mouth are one of the best around although the car park can get a bit busy
