I visited The Novium as I was brought up in Chichester and thought it would be fun; I liked the old museum and the memories it held. I was so disappointed with the new one. The building is brand new, built over a few stones which used to be part of the Roman baths, but there is so much more... More

For those who knew the old museum, the new one has not much else to look at apart from the remains of the roman baths. That should have been worth the cost in itself.. but it wasn't. They were interesting but not fascinating. Too much was missing. The setting was well presented, a gallery around the site, but I felt... More

The old museum was very tiny but had a lovely ambience. This, to me, is cold and sterile and way overpriced. Only went the once and wouldn't go back to be honest.

We went with my wife's parents. I have been to the old Chichester museum many times although the others hadn'y. I expected an interesting mix of finds and a good introduction to the unique history of Chichester. The museum has a few stones in situ from what is said to be the baths - although with a lot of later... More

Building is a great backdrop for the museum exhibitions. Open archaeological site on display is a great concept. First floor has huge cube shaped display case - unique method of displaying objects - very impressive and good visual impact. Rooftop view of the cathedral. Top floor is stuffed full of artefacts - could spend hours there. Themes of bravery, joy... More

Our American friend loved it but we feel the shop could stock more interesting items. Would definitely take overseas visitors there again.

I was a little surprised when I found out that a local museum for a small provincial city was charging a £7 entry fee, but it made me think that perhaps there was something special about The Novium. A new building, on the ground floor it houses the remains of the in-situ Roman baths along with the remains of a... More

Went today with my wife',son,grandson-what a waste of an afternoon and £23.50! Far too much money for far too little.hardly anything of interest to young visitors and very little in the way of local interestWhat happened to all the local artefacts from the old museum,I've lived in this area all of my life so I know how interesting this museum... This new attraction in Chichester is well worth a visit. The museum also houses the tourist information and so the shop has a good range of books and leaflets. There is a library which is useful for people wanting to study the area or do their own research.
