As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

This is a very nice place to watch a film. You can choose comfy chair or cosy settee and it is just like being in someones front room. Added to that you can sit and have a bottle of wine and nibbles makes a very nice way of chilling and watching a film.

It's fab! Great venue and great films. The bar is wonderful too! The fact you can drink wine and beers in the cinemas is always a plus in my book...

Lovely cinema in the heart of Newcastle city centre. The different screen options are fab, but I think the stalls/circle is my favourite, for grandeur and the small bar area in the screening room itself. Like the option of reserving seats that some screenings offer, meaning no need to rush or queue. The bar upstairs is cosy and reasonably priced.... More

The Tyneside cinema comprises of 4 cinemas, very comfortable excellent seats. There is a bar and a cafe/restaurant and if you desire you can take into the cinema your beer or your wine. Good slection of film, many different from other cinemas. There is also a tour of the building which is interesting.

Nice small cinema. Felt homely and friendly - comfortable seats. Would definitely go again. Nice bar there too.

This cinema is fantastic. It shows all sorts of films and the rooms are comfortable, roomy and also licensed! There is a load of information on the history of cinema and the building inside too, which is very good. The cafe and bar are well stocked, tasty food and an excellent choice. The bar also shows films on certain nights... More

This compact multiplex is built within the shell of a former arts cinema/news cinema in the very centre of the city. It shows films currently on general release as well as less popular features. Sometimes it hosts live concerts.

Although i have lived in the area all my life I have not been to this cinema before today. I went with my wife and son for a free guided tour which tells the history of the cinema. It was very interesting and included a showing of a short newsreel from 1950. There are exhibits from the cinema's past including... More
