We visited as part of a small group. There are two tours per day lasting 1.5 hours. Note that you can't just walk around for reasons of security, safety and sheer site size. You are taken around the site by coach and see many of the male studs, mares and foals at various stages of development. The explanations of breeding... More

If you are visiting Newmarket at this time of year, do make a point of visiting the National Stud. My husband and I visited on the 9th April and the one and a half hour tour was excellent. Our guide Richard was extremely good and made the tour very informative ,enjoyable and at times humorous. We saw every aspect of... More

... both large and small, some very famous, others less so and this is THE BEST. All the horses are treated as individuals and the whole stud farm operates on high standards of horse welfare. The guide was really knowledgeable and very friendly. I would highly recommend a couple of hours there and am coming back to go on one... More

My family love horses and have a couple of our own so and decided to treat my mum to a day out to the National stud for Mother's Day. My sister and teenage niece came along too. It was worth the four hour round trip drive on a freezing cold day. We were taken around the vast site in a... More

On October 10/2012 we took the tour at the National Stud. Our guide was Penny who was extremely knowlegable and passionate about horse breeding. Although we ourselves had little knowledge of the subject prior to the tour, we certainly, now, have a much better appreciation of the horse racing/breeding world. I think next year we shall attend the running of... More

This tour was a gift, and even though we are not "into horses" it was excellent. Chris, our Guide really brought the whole morning to life. Would highly recommend the tour. We did the early morning tour and it was well and truly worth the early start.

Our visit to the National Stud was part of an organised day visiting stables, gallops etc. The Stud is amazing and our guide was very informative. We met three stallions and the polo mint crunching Amberleigh House, but as the foaling season has closed, there wasnt a lot else to see. We will be back next year to see the... More
