A typical English summer day - raining and cold, so we headed off to Ironbridge to make use of the museums passport we've had since August 2012. As always, an utter delight and font of information ... BUT be warned. We (three of us, two adults and 1 child, aged 10) had lunch in the café at the Museum Of...

I'm glad I've got a family admission pass as I'd have been disappointed to have paid the entrance fee for all four of us here (£9 for adults). This museum captures the history of the industrial revolution in Coalbrookdale. The displays might be a little ‘traditional’ for younger children who might prefer the hands-on Enginuity experience. A visit to the nearby Darby houses helps put the differing lifestyles of the period into context.
The breadth of ingenuity and design then production of ironwork is staggering. displayed to great effect. Darby's start furnace is there too.
This is an excellent museum and well worth a visit. its very well laid out and gives an excellent interpretation of the way of life during this time. there is so much to see and take in that allow for a steady wonder around.
Take the guided tour of the old blast furnace. We did and it really helped me to understand the process involved and develop a greater appreciation of life at the time.
Lots of information, but if you read every notice there it would probably take all day. The men in our party enjoyed it more than the two ladies.
I didn't realise there was so much that could be made from iron, a basic model of the area could have been visually more informative, the notes and photographs were useful.
A wonderful, informative trip back to the Industrial Revolution of the 18th C. A real blast of an experience.
