Intriguing lay-out with the wall going through the fort. Fascinating museum with hundreds of pieces of Roman stone architecture and monuments.

Easily missed on the Hadrians wall circuit, but more impressive than Houseteads and situated on the river. The museum was a unexpected gem of Roman artefacts. English Heritage attraction so support them!

Chesters Roman Fort is well worth visiting. The ruins are interesting and there are a number of fine exhibits worth looking at.

It was a wild and windy day when we visisted the site but it only lent itself to the atmosphere of being on the very edge of the Roman Empire. There is loads to see here, you could happily spend two hours or more looking around the site. It has a nice little gift shop with friendly helpful staff, it... More

A good museum, with lots of stone artefacts from various places along Hadrians Wall, the remains of the fort, plus, down near the River North Tyne a relatively well preserved bath house make for an interesting visit.

Well preserved ruins on the banks of the Tyne. The museum is interesting, but not a match for the museum at Vindolanda

Not as well preserved as some ruins but like most Roman remains this place has a very emotional feel to it. Stand still on a quiet day and you can almost hear the soldiers complaining about the weather.

A great stop on a very long walk. Well conserved and very well managed. A little hard to find if you miss the sign on the road but on the walk no problem. One of the most interesting sites to be found along Hadrian's Wall is the remnants of a bridge remains that once took the wall across the river... More
