What an awesome place. It brought back so many of my childhood memories. It was so imformative about geology and fossils that i could have spent a whole day just checking them out!! staff were very friendlyand helpful...oved it!!1
You can certainly be forgiven for being overwhelmed by the vast amount of curiosities, nick knacks, art & prehistoric creatures! Well worth a visit on your next excursion to Whitby (whether you've been before or not).
Amazing and diverse collections including fossils, jet jewellery and ornaments, shipping related exhibits, costumes, dolls houses, and the spooky Hand of Glory! A bit traditional in its presentation, but absolutely jam-packed with treasures.
I visit this church each time I go to Whitby and I like it better than the Abbey. Very nostalgic of times gone. Very peaceful even with people in it. I love it it. It smells great too!
it was a rainy day. perfect for visiting a museum. one can spend days here! it was so interesting. loved the bram-stoker-corner, the coin-collection, the dinosaur bones and the dress-exhibition.
Visited Whitby many times but this was the first time we have called into the museum and we are so glad we did. It has the most wonderful collections from military, naval to natural history and lots of locally themed displays. We spent a good couple of hours looking around and we also visited the cafe for a quick drink.... More
Great way to kill an hour or so. Curator was very knowledgeable and friendly. Displays ranged from fossils, taxidermy, ships, foreign objects, withered hand! And we also saw the fungi and mourning clothes exhibit too. Overall I think it's worth the small amount of money it was to go in :)
