Tucked away in leafy suburbs, Sudley is the only house of a Victorian merchant that still has its original pictures, including works by Millais, Turner and Rossetti, and with beautiful period furniture, carpets and wallpaper it doesn't feel like a regular gallery. There is also a childhood room, a small world room and a costume room, which often house temporary displays, and tearooms. Admission is free. « less

I went to Sudley house with the local W.I we had a guide who explained everything to us and was very informative. We had tea or coffee in the tea rooms which was very nice. More

After visiting other art galleries in Merseyside I was really pleasantly surprised to find some great paintings at Sudley House. Pre-Raphelites, Turner, Gainsborough, Romney. A beautiful collection that I'm very glad is being looked after by National Museums Liverpool and thankfully is still free. We got the train to Aigburth and then followed the directions we'd printed out from the website. It took us about 15 -20 minutes to reach the house - there were signposts for it a regular intervals. Although I have lived in Liverpool for many years and seen signs for signs for Sudley House, it took weatherman Fred in "Where's Fred" to highlight the gem that this house is. Had an exhibition of a local woman's clothes and those of her children - gave a real flavour of the 1920's. The house is well cared for and there is a nice little cafe. Enjoyed walking around - it was early spring so lots of bulbs out. Very pleasant visit. More
