I was not initially impressed - but as I went round and saw the variety and calibre of the items in the collection, I found the Gallery fascinating,
The Archaeology show was great, but there was some really amazing modern art on show by an artist called David Kirshner - never seen his work before but will look him up
Well worth dropping in, Reached on foot from Steep Hill or car park opposite front entrance. See history of mankind through the ages with some interactive displays, shop, cafe, toilets.
I really enjoyed my visit here even if there isn't all that much to do. The museum itself is contained in one big room, and as such it didn't take too long to get around. Didn't go into the gallery, just the museum part which was very spacious and every exhibit was extremely well labelled. Staff very helpful and lots of interactive opportunities for the children (2 of mine being in their 30s and also my wife) who had a great time.
If you have at least an hour to spare and want to educate your kids about Lincolnshire's history in a fun and interactive way, this place is a sure bet! A mix of wonderful pieces and paintings, some superb enamels, watches and paintings. Upstairs sculptures and paintings worth a look especially my favourite pic "Bric a Brac". Staff interesting and very friendly.
Some interesting artefacts & displays. Good little cafe for lunch or coffee. Children will enjoy the layout and som interesting bits in the shop.
