OK, I may be a bit biased here as i worked at Wordsworth House. the amount of work put into the house and the garden after the terrible flooding is amazing. there is now a coffe shop where you can get hot and cold drinks and the most amazing locally baked cakes which are delievered fresh. on the right hand... Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Wordsworth House. The staff were friendly and so helpful. The house is well apppointed and a wonderful job of restoration after the flood several years ago. We would recommend this house to anyone who will be in the Cockermouth area. More

The house is a great introduction to Wordsworth's life. There are plenty of things for children to enjoy eg writing with a quill pen and ink and the staff (in period costume) are friendly and helpful. The garden at the back leads down to the river and is a lovely place to sit in the sunshine. There is a great... More

My wife and I went to see how the house and gardens had recovered from the floods of November 2009. Fortunately the ground floor of the house stands a few steps up from the road outside so the damage there was minimal. The cellar though was totally underwater, as were the gardens, front and rear. The rear kitchen gardens stretch... More
