We are a local family living in Dartmouth and use this beach regularly. It isn't our absolute favourite local beach, that title goes to Mattiscombe, but it is the most useful local beach. Useful features: *We buy an annual car park pass, £67 in 2013, which mitigates the expense. *The water depth is not ideal for small children, however there... More

Ok it doesn't have sand but tiny pebbles but what a beautiful and peaceful place. Well worth the 10-15 minute journey from Dartmouth if you wish to lay on the beach and watch the waves roll in...

My partner spent many holidays during his childhood coming to Devon and visiting Blackpool sands and was desperate to show me the area. On arrival there was a small car park with a rude parking attendant stood at the entrance. We only wanted to have a quick walk onto the beach...no longer than an hour and the parking attendant wanted... More

I've been coming here for years to get away from the Asda brigade when I want a relaxing day at the beach with my kids and this place hits the spots. Safe reliable parking at £5.00 all day gets you access to the immaculate shingle beach fringed by pines - this looks like it belongs in the med. the surrounding... More

Have re-visited for many years with my family and solo. Realy love it here, particularly in lovely weather. Crystal water, glorious views - must be the most picturesque setting for a large beach in Devon, and it attracts yachts and boats of all types, good food and drink, and clean facilities. Great for young and old but not for novice... More

Had a great breakfast on Sunday morning, just before the crowds arrived. The beach is very pretty, but the ability to walk up the the cafe or loos is whats sets this beach apart from all the local beaches.

Hidden gem, lovely evening jaunt, catching mackeral off the beach and barbequing them - was perfect English Bank Holiday. Recommended for couple and groups of adults, not a great deal to attract families and children.

Spent a day there with the family, sheltered bay, lots of amenities, clean shingle beach, water a bit cold in may, highly recommended

We are not really beach people but had heard about the beach café here. It did not disappoint. Breakfast (at £7.95) was more expensive than other local choices but it was worth every penny - well presented and tasting as good as it looked. And all this in what was basically a conservatory with amazing views of the entire sweep... More

Food in cafe was far better than you'd expect from a beachside cafe. Lovely beach, great views, highly recommend.
