Pure nature, hot spring, blue river sight, relaxing water sound, great weather and the sundays BARBACOA (nothing to do with barbecue) are just a unique mexican experience. Here is the web page for the place we stayed in: http://www.grutastolantongo.com.mx/index_ing.php More

Good things: Affordable (100 pesos per person, per day), facilities are clean, if you love nature and water this is the place for you. It is very safe, they have security 24 hrs a day. The offer restaurant, store, souvenir shoppe, showers and bathrooms on site. The best part is the cave and waterfalls, don't miss them. Things I would... More

This tropical valley hold the most beautiful cascades, grottos and caves running with clear turquoise hot springs that exist in this world. The cabins are simple yet set in the midst of warm clear pools that cascade into each other. Delicious inexpensive food is served at the on site restaurants. Very romantic for couples or great for families. Very eco-friendly... More

For all the juicy details, the previous review (uncleho70) really says it all, very comprehensive, detailed, and accurate. No point repeating what they said. But I want to add a touch more emphasis. There are two places to stay here, the "paraiso escondido" at the entrance to the attraction, and the hotels that are at the base of the valley,... More

If you want a truly unique getaway, this is the place. It is a no-frills location where you can enjoy nature at it's finest. Having lived in Mexico for 3 years, and explored a little of the beauty this country has to offer - I will say this is a place you don't want to miss! Pack bathing suits, water... More

SUMMARY: I am a US expat in Mex and have been here for 2 years. I have done some of the popular gringo places (Riviera Maya), but prefer the out of the way places like this. Tolantongo is truly a unique place. I read that Tolantongo is owned and operated by a collective of families that live in nearby towns.... More

Well, I recently visited Grutas de Tolantongo, the place is amazing, the warm water river is beautiful and the scenery makes this an unforgettable place. Unfortunately there was something that bummed me out a lot, the people there. Mexican people are known for their hospitality, but this is the exception. As we arrived we went to the hotel front desk... More

The Grutas De Tolantongo is an amazing place to visit. It is in a deep canyon near San Cristobal, Hidalgo. A river of warm, blue water comes out of a large cave. There are cascades and swimming pools higher up on the mountain. The rooms were $40 (400 pesos) a night and there was a wonderful view of the river... More

I wanted to take my 5 year old daughter and my boy of 2 years to a river but not to any river, a river with hot water so I found Tolantongo. On Tolantongo Caves, a river of hot water born. You can go inside the cave which is like a steam and feel how the warm flowing water makes... More
