A rainy day in Revelstoke and I head over to the railway museum. Not to many people taking advantage of this great place. The fact that they have a full steam locomotive inside the building was very impressive. A must see for families

Very interesting exhibitions of trains from the old days. Special to learn about the struggles to keep the railway opened in snowy winters in earlier days.
The exhibts are very well done, especially the very well restored railcar and steam engine housed inside. The history is fascinating. The model train exhibut was not yet open, but looks like it will be fun. The stories and history displayed are well presented and makes the history of CP Rail really come to life.
railroaders from everywhere will love this museum. very well done, great guided tours. true historical relevance to this area. make sure you also head out to the Last Spike. genuine piece of Canadian history.
This place is all about expectations - if you don't go with big expectations it's pretty good. There's a train you can walk through, an area for kids to play that really works for a 5 year old and lots of interesting information. Staff are a little self-involved.
Museum of past railway history next to the main line so you may have to wait for a train of 100 wagons to pass! On our visit there was a retired driver chatting in the driver's cab and he was really fascinating
This museum has several locomotives and train wagons, and interesting details about traintravel in Canada.
Pictures, posters and models complete the collection.
There is a giftshop as well, and there even is a good chance you have to prolong your visit involuntary with a viewing of a present-day freighttrain, as you have to cross a busy railwayline to go to...

We spent a couple of hours here first thing on a Sunday morning. The kids really enjoyed being to speak with a real railway engineer and the model train people. Informative but not boring for the family. (went with kids aged 8 and 6).
Helpful staff, fascinating history, interesting displays. The railway ran alongside our route from Vancouver to Field and this was a fascinating insight to its history. Wonderful to walk through the coaches that my friend's Gran had travelled on to Vancouver from Montreal in the 60s. Make sure you see the spiral tunnels.
We found this on our trip by sheer accident but were happy we did! The facility is very modern and quite well kept. Their steam engine is in fabulous shape..like it just rolled in from a run. The history of Canadian railways was well displayed and I learned a lot.....those people were serious about getting thru some amazing mountains!. I...
