This focuses on the early transportation of the Yukon and is very interesting and informative. A must to visit for the mechanical buff or the dog lover.
at the yukon transportation museum: descriptive exhibits, excellent films -- several of them movie length!! you will come away with much knowledge of how intrepid adventurers explored the northern territory.
It was very interesting to be able to see all the older cars and trains that were used back in the day. Some fantastic news articles and artifacts about the The 'Miracle' Survivors of a Yukon Air Crash who were found alive on March 25, 1963.
We got to Whitehorse after the museum had closed for the season. Tried calling the museum and the very helpful lady there said she would be able to turn on the basic lights and let us have a look when she was there. The museum was well done and informative. If you go make sure to have a look at...

This museum, like every other one that we went to in W. Horse, is well worth the time and the entry fee. This is a well done and painless way to learn about the history of the region by way of the various forms of transportation used during the last 100 or so years..well done but musty--The big attractions--the DC-3 and other large outdoor vehicles are worth a stop as well as the stampeders history on the inside
While in Whitehorse we visited the Yukon Transportation Museum and found it very well presented and interesting. It cost $12 for 2 adults. It certainly portrayed a well documented history of the use of transport in the Yukon and had many varied displays. You can easily spend a couple of hours here, depends on your interests.
Unfortunately, we just did not have time to go inside here. Long story but we had to make it another two hours down the road before stopping for the night.
However, we were able to take a few minutes to look at the outside exhibits. The "crown jewel" has to be the weathervane that's a real plane!
This is an...

I wish I knew it existed earlier. Lots to see and learn. Great replicas. It is also a place that you can rent for special occasions, ie. weddings.
