We visited the McCord Museum a few weeks ago and were really disappointed with our experience. It was a rainy day and we chose this museum out of everywhere in Montreal and had to wait quite some time before the staff at the counter even acknowledged us, let alone served us. Once we had paid the fair amount for entry... More

The McCord museum is a fantastic source of information on the history of Montreal. A good price and excellent exhibits. More

The McCord Museum not only has special displays (check the website for current offerings) but also has a permanent display of historical material relating to Canada, ranging from costume to old milk-bottle stopper tops. The coverage is broad, and for research there are options to contact people who can be of assistance in such matters. Highly recommended, but possibly not... More

The McCord Museum houses the Notman collection, photographs documenting everything and every event which are displayed on the streets in the summer. The collection of women's clothing in Canada is not comparable to any other places... since Montreal is is Canada's fashion capital its logical it should be here. It is well worth a visit of this fantastic museum. More

the McCord Museum which has a small exhibit of Montreal history but is not worth the $13 entrance fee. The largest exhibit was two floors of pictures of oil refineries and oil drills. More

Until October 16th there's a fabulous open air display that we stumbled upon after dinner one night - giant reproductions of photographs with information about the history and the art of each one. It's called Pieces of Pictures and it's on McGill College Avenue north of St. Catherine. We asked about the Notman Archives when we finally got to the... More

This museum has a nice 20 minute video of the history of Montreal. It has good displays on the history of the area, its people, and some clothing displays. There was an interesting video of cutting and harvesting ice to use for refrigeration. We spent just over an hour in the museum, but probably did not read the cards and... More

This museum is for those who really like to read the placards next to displays and be told a story. McCord is known for its historic textiles and we were there when their temporary exhibit was a history of women's dress in Canada- which turned out very interesting. Their permanent exhibits were based on Montreal and Native American history and... More
