Good selection of Art from the middle ages to modern. Highlight for me was "Return from the Inn" by Pieter Bruegel the Younger.

This is a brilliant Art Gallery/Museum - just wish we'd had more time to fully do it justice! If ever we're in Montreal again we'll be back....

We loved the buildings, the decorative art exposition, the gift shop! And the best of all is that it was for free!

I went during the Peru and Chihuly exhibitions both of which were 20$ to see. With both these and the rest of the free areas you need more than a day to see everything even if you rush through a few of the less interesting sections.

The current exhibition on Peru: Kingdoms of the Sun and Moon is comprehensive and well worth a visit. It highlights the sophistication and exquisite craftsmanship of the natives from pre-Spanish times to the 20th Century. There are beautiful pieces that have never been seen outside of Peru before. What an excellent museum! The exhibition on Peru was a bonus. One of the best fine art museums I have been to for some time - and I've been to a lot.

Museum has free admission to the permanent exhibitions. Plan to spend there at least half a day. You will enjoy the time spent there.

I went with my three years old son to the art workshop. He made a beautiful mask with collage. It was free and the instructor was very helpful. just a wonderful afternoon spent surrounded by amazing art...definitely a 'must-do" when you visit Montreal!
