This is a hidden gem in Toronto. Forgo the midway (Centreville) and rent a bike or canoe. Enjoy the beaches, the gardens, the fountains. There are plenty of spaces to be alone with your thoughts, or people watch. We go several times a summer and truly enjoy it. The ferry ride alone is a must to anyone visiting Toronto.

This is the best place to take pictures of Toronto skyline. The ferries come and go every 30 minutes until 4pm and every 45 minutes after that. But schedules change seasonally. The fare includes return (I paid CAN$ 7). Restaurants and cafés close at 5:30 pm during winter. I took the best pictures of Toronto from Ward's Island.

The walk-abouts, the air, the escape from the hustle and bustle of Toronto, and with my late husband, always special summer walks, and he was very interested in the airport as he used to fly his own plane into Buttonville. Toronto Island was and is unique in Toronto's landmarks, and a fun place to picnic. I'm going back soon.

From the ferry ride to what seems like endless amounts of grass to run and play on, kids love the islands and it's a nice break from the city. Centreville is good for younger kids but bring your wallet - things can get expensive.

Nice to take the ferry over to the island. Nice place with a marina for smaller vessels and many activities. Wonderful view of the Toronto Skyline.

A 7.5$ boat ride & you escape the buzz of metropolitan Toronto. The pristine waters add to the pleasure of the ride with CN Tower & downtown at its backdrop indeed makes a spectacular view as it distances away and you approach the Green & Peace of the Island. There is map at the entrance & it is very helpful... More

So much to do. If you have the time walk the islands from West to East. Three access points by Toronto Ferry give you great variety. I enjoy the village at Wards Island. Walk from there along the boardwalk overlooking Lake Ontario to Centre Island. Maybe stop in at the Rectory Cafe for lunch , then continue on to the... More

Just minutes away from the downtown core, a short ferry will take you to Centre Island. It's the perfect place to picnic, go for a long walk, read a book under a tree and feel like you've escaped the city even though the skyline is only a photograph away.

It is a great way to get away from the city for a day. First of all it is nice to be on the ferry and see the city from the water. The Island itself has lots of walkways or you can just walk on the grass. There is a kiddie amusement area and an area with farm animals. You... More
