As a former Governor General Foot Guard I can honestly say the changing of the guards does justice for the Regiment and offers vistors an experience they won't forget. A real tribute to Canada and Canadians. Worth the trip to Ottawa, a must see.
A must-do every time we visit Ottawa in the summer. Love this tradition and there's so much to do in the area afterwards.
This free attraction allows visitors to follow the parade to Parliament Hill and watch the changing of the guard. If you do not want to follow parade you can watch the main show at the hill.
great show put on by the guards. It is however quite long if you watch the whole thing but still an important historic piece of our country
Traditional and links Britain and Canada. See if you can make the guards who stand on guard smile. I hear that the guards, can, on occasion, faint in the extreme heat!
In the summer in Ottawa, this is a must do. Amazing Canadian experience to hear the band and see the marching. Come early to get a good spot. After the changing of the guard, do the tour of the parliament buildings!
It's pretty cool that with how much the times of changes, a tradition such as this still exists. Once you see this, there are plenty of other things to do in the area, so it's easy to make a day of it and do a bunch of stuff.
We followed the band each morning we were there. The music was exciting nd the air full of electricity.
We had visitors from the States visiting Canada for the first time. Naturally, although from Kingston, we had to visit the changing of the guard. It was everything I remembered from when I was young.
