Somewhat disappointing from what I remember. I had been to the canyon before and remembered a very different site. First they say it is wheelchair accessible but be very aware of this. I rented a scooter in Thunder Bay as I am unable to walk any long distance. Without the scooter I would have never made it to the lookout.... More

Ouimet Canyon is about an hour from Thunder Bay going east. It has a magnificent view. Nearby is Eagle Canyon which has the world's longest suspension bridge as well as Canada's longest zip line. Again a wonderful view. I did not try the zip line but those who did seemed to enjoy it. The view from the bridge is spectacular.... More

This park is a few miles off the main highway, but is still easy to get to. We were there in early July, and one of only a handful of people there. The guys at the information station were friendly enough but not real enthusiastic. One guy kept going back to sit in his car with the radio on loudly... More

The hike to this canyon is just an average walk thru the woods, nothing special there. But the canyon itself is amazing. The people at the park office were very friendly and helpful, as well.

We took the 11 Km side trip to this park, from the Trans Canada highway. We were glad we did. The views are breathtaking. It might not be the Grand Canyon but not nearly as crowded either. There is a 1 kilometer round trip hike from the parking lot, over an interesting bridge, to two viewing platforms. This path is... More

It's always interesting to read reviews.. and discover details I missed.. like the donation, Whoops! Sorry. I will contribute the next time. I was very impressed with this geological phenomenon. Like others, I thought it would be interesting.. "but.." Turned out it was awesome. You will appreciate this gift from Mother Nature. The turnoff did not seem to be well... More

We were travelling from Thunder Bay to Kingston, so couldn't afford the time to stop off at every roadside attraction. This one, though, I'd certainly recommend. You turn off the highway near Dorion, Ontario, and take a blacktop road for 11 km up to the parking lot near the rim of the canyon. (The last few kilometers are narrow and... More

Ouimet Canyon is billed as "Canada's Grand Canyon" well....not even close. It is an interesting site for sure, but if you've ever been to the Grand Canyon you would agree. Definitely a place to stop if you're by that way. Not too far off the main highway. And also make sure you visit the suspension bridge, which is a separate... More

On a trip around Superior, my wife and I drove by the turnoff to the canyon. Fortunately we had the time to go back and look for it the next day. Maybe because the hype for this place is so low-key, we weren't expecting too much. My first thought after stepping on to the viewing platform, and catching my breath,... More
