I remember as a child coming for class trips. Now as an adult loved it just the same. They do serve food and near by towns have great eating places but I like packing a picnic. Feels like going back in time! Lovely summer day trip back in time.

They have people acting out what life would have been like years ago. It's intriguing to see what a house would have looked like, and to go through each room. Then you have to go through each room of various businesses and services. You can easily spend 2-3 hours there, very educational, interesting and fun.

I have tried to visit every 2 or so years for 30 years and have seen a steady decline in the staff levels /& customer volumes. The facility is in good shape but it has limited customers and has not seemed to be able to attract like other sites. The tourists seem to not know about it and the local... More

I was pleasantly surprised at the lovely afternoon I had while exploring Lower Fort Garry. The grounds and buildings are well kept, there is plenty of information to read and an abundance of staff to help make the experience welcoming and informative.

I love this place. I have visited it a dozen times since I was a kid both with family, individually and on school trips. I like the re-enactments that the "actors" do and it is a great way to walk through the past. It is better if you know the history of the place before showing up. It helps you... More

This is a beautifully restored 18th century fort and Hudson's Bay Company trading post located right on the Red River just a few miles north of Winnipeg. It's so well maintained that it looks brand new! It has it's own large and beautiful park grounds, a modern interpretive centre and its own privately run restaurant. During the tourist season they... Loads of history! The restored fort, people dressed in period clothing, seeing how the settlers lived when they first came to Manitoba, very much something everyone should experience.

A place that every kid got to go to growing up in Winnipeg! Now - perfect for out of towners. Guides in character wearing period costumes doing chores/work from the 1800's. A nice way to spend a day!

Lots of parking and a short drive from the city. Very relaxing way to spend an afternoon - kids can run around without getting into too much trouble - basically an outside museum.
