One side of the loop offers amazing views of the Bow River Valley and the Banff Springs Hotel. We were there in June, when it is light until about 10pm. We took the drive after dinner and loved the surprising views.

We went through Tunnel Mt. By train and then drove out to see them. This is a must see! What a wonder! It is also close to the continental divide.

Saw tons of wildlife along this drive, including grizzly bears, black bears, elk, deer, and more!! Very cool drive.

Some interesting places to stop and look around. Free, close to town, and doesn't take too long to drive. One of the first places I am guessing many folks travel to in Banff.

If you go to Banff, definitely do this drive, the views are absolutely amazing and you are very likely to see deer.

we stayed in Banff for 3 mights and decided to get the most out of our car hire and took the tunnel mountain drive apart from seeing some deer/moose not sure what they were . ... but they all had tags in their ears we were fairly under whelmed compared to the rest of the views you can get round... A pleasant drive to end up at surprise corner looking over the bow falls! It's a must see! Also we were lucky enough to see a few deer and elk, so keep you eyes open.

if you can, you should take some time and take a walk there. you get a beautifull view ( all the snowy mountains and river) and lots of wildlife to see :)

Still closed for cars, late April. Nice view over Banff town. From this road you can also walk up to the hill for a better view over Banff.
