You'll have to excuse all the exclamation points in my title, but wow!!!...what a place! As other reviewers have written, Baja Ecotours is a fantastic company owned and run by individuals who have the best interests of the Gray whales and their guests as their top priority. It's difficult to know where to begin. First, San Ignacio Lagoon is the... More

My husband and I returned from Camp Cortez a few weeks ago and we are still basking in our experience in touching and kissing friendly whales. We have been on safari in Kenya and Tanzania and to the Galapagos Islands, and this trip equals both of those trips in the scope of experiencing hands on interactions with friendly whales!! The... My husband and I were quests in February of this year. We were so impressed with the camp, it is laid out nicely, very clean and self supporting. All of the staff did everything to make sure you had an experience that you would never forget. The meals were wonderful and you never left hungry. And then of course the... More

There are too many amazing things about this camp and the experience to list. In short, if you are looking for a luxurious vacation on a beach for sunbathing, this is not for you. But for a miraculous natural experience in a beautiful remote location, Campo Cortez is can't miss. We traveled with three kids and they loved it. Everybody... More

If you are considering this trip, do it! Lots of whales spouting, breaching, spy hopping and, best of all coming right up to the boat. Lots of opportunities for touching mothers and calves. Baja Ecotours gave my daughter and me a wonderful experience that we will never forget! More

I read all the great reviews before I left and got excited. But nothing prepared me for the thrill, heart pounding joy of being eye to eye with a grey whale. It was so much more exciting than I could have imagined. Baja Eco Tours runs a great camp. Its clean, simple and well run. I have to have a... More

Just returned from trip to Campo Cortez with family including grandchildren - we had a wonderful time. The whales were amazing and so friendly and we were looked after so well by Maldo and his big family and Chris - nothing was too much trouble to enable us to have the holiday of a lifetime. More

I took my wife for her 50th birthday because she loves whales. In So Cal and whale watching you must stay 100 yards from whales. In this special "Biosphere" you get right up and personal with the Mothers and Calves. Every day watching is a new adventure from whales breaching, spy hopping and mating to mothers pushing calves up to... More

Amazing trip. Whales everywhere. Boat guides knew where to find them and how to approach. Camp Cortez was very accommodating. Food good and plentiful. Camp staff knowledgeable and helpful. Well organize and well run. "Camping" couldn't be easier. The cabins were warm and toasty at night. The night sky was brilliant. Lots to see and do on land as well... More

Our three days at Campo Cortez were great. The staff is wonderfully friendly and thoughtful, and the guides make sure you get close to the gray whales -- that means close enough to scritch their chins and rub their bellies. The camp is wonderfully remote from the everyday world (a billion stars all around). The food -- homemade and hearty... More

This is absolutely true this 2012 Season. We have TWO new guides at camp that are both naturalists and one an expedition kayak trip leader. Our two "on staff" naturalists moved to Spain before the season began and we were very sad to see them go. That said, we are very pleased with our "local" naturalists that are all born... More
