This place is hard to get to. When the road ends in tulum, you have to drive out about 6 miles. It can be dangerous and unpleasant if you have a small car. I recommend driving a truck, taking a lunch and drinks, and some chairs and/or towels. Seeing that their isn't much on the beach, you get to enjoy... More

This is the road that takes you to all the beachfront hotels and restaurants in Tulum! Very cool area! Beautiful beaches! One of my favorite areas to spend the day.

It is located south of Tulum and the slow two or more hour drive is crazy. Don't take a small car or it will get stuck in the giant pot holes. The beaches were beautiful to look at, but the town was nothing. We have made the trip several times over the years, and decided it was not worth the... More

Great beaches (that allow dogs - unlike Playa del Carmen or Cancun), lots of tasty, authentic mexican food at a good price, and affordable hotels!

No sunbeds, shops toilets so go prepared, Its a shame the locals dont take their litter home with them! I will let my photos paint a... More

Boca Paila, o Playa El Encanto, as called by many locals is one of the best hidden treasures in the area. The water is warm, mild waves, little fish swimming by. You only need a towel, choose a spot, and you are all set. If you want to be a little more comfortable, try one of the beach clubs nearby.... More

Get away from the crowds, travel through the beach area of Tulum (gorgeous beaches) and arrive at wild undeveloped beaches. This is what the Riviera Maya looked like 20 years ago.

Shows all the hotels along Tulum's beach road (Boca Paila) from where the road forks at the coast right up to the Biosphere reserve (about 7 km in total). Includes hotel names and an odometer showing where they are. Species variety is the attribute that best defines the saltwater flats fishing on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Boca Paila Lodge embodies this... More
