You can't beat this place for shopping while on your trip. They have everything from beautiful silver shops, handmade crafts, hats, pretty clothing, t shirts, fun souveniers to bring home....you name it. Vendors are fun and friendly. Yes, some can be a bit more aggressive than others, but they are harmless. Lots of places to stop along the way for... More

Loved the shopping but disliked the ventors hawking to get a sale. The silver jewelery was amazing and made a few purchases of course. Don't accept the ventor prices. Know what price your willing to pay before you make a purchase. The price ranges vary widely.

90% of store were great. Beware of Rogers Boots. I tried on Womens 7.5 size boots. Came back later to buy and the box said 9.5. I questioned this and was told that Mexico sizes are different and that these were the boots I had tried on. My mistake I believed them, got them home and they are definitely wrong... More

Hey folks! I was informed about this famous place called the "5th Ave" in Playa Del Carmen a few years ago while staying in the Riveria Maya, Mexico. My hotel had arranged tours every day to visit this famous road. I always wondered why the tours were always booked up to fast? Go visit the 5th Ave & you'll know... More

Shopping was very good on Fifth Avenue. Lots of bargains to be had. We were in Tulum the day before and the bartering was not as good so we didn't buy much there. Not only could you make a deal with the different shops, but the Tequila Hacienda or Hacienda Tequila had great prices that were set prices. Plus, it's... More

Went down to the area in late afternoon on Friday night and the place is much bigger than expected. There are a lot of good shops and good place to buy silver. Got a nice chain for a good price and is pure silver. Ate at a place called Yacchi which is traditional Mayan Cuisine very nice and full of... More

I hadn't been to Playa Del carmen in about five years and I didn't remember the solicitation from restaurants and store owners along 5th avenue being so persistent and annoying. You basically have to walk in the middle of the street to escape. And the restaurant pricing, for food but especially for beer/drinks, has gotten ridiculous. $3.50 and up for... More

Our hotel was just off 5th which was quite handy for evening activities. 5th is best done in the late afternoon or evening when the hot sun goes down. We strolled up and down the mile long street looking in stores and eating at many of the restaurants. To mention a few of our favorite restaurants on 5th: SUR Argentinian,... More
