Small classes, very skillful instructor who brings both knowledge of practice and a spiritual aura to the classes. Highly recommended for students at all levels.

While spending a wonderful 12 days on Isla Mujeres, Mexico this past month, I attended 3 drop-in yoga classes led by Laurie at Na Balam Hotel and Resort. They were wonderfully challenging and professionally led yoga classes. I have attended many types of yoga c lasses over the years. This was one of the best. A good mix of meditation,... More

I am so fortunate to have spent the entire month of February 2013 on Isla! What a truly wonderful experience. A huge part of my criteria for my stay was a high quality yoga experience. I absolutely found my yogis and exceeded my expectations with the Vastu school. Lai and Lorrie challenged me and challenged my approach to yoga. The... More

An excellent REAL yoga experience in a beautiful setting. Sometimes, "vacation yoga" can be just a series of stretches or breathing exercises. Vastu Yoga in Isla Mujeres was an actual, serious yoga class with an instructor who adjusts each student in the class for each pose, as needed --- I felt stretched, awakened, invigorated, and ready to start the day... I had been doing yoga for many years now all over the world and met many teachers and experienced many styles.Never had a chance to get to know Sivananda school before. I found it intense, real, close to the Truth. I had an amazing privilege to take Lal's classes that were very focused and enlightening. It was a beautiful adventure... More

I was on the island for an 8 day holiday of relaxation and sun. I discovered the class my first day, and was hooked. As an overweight middle aged yoga beginner (3 months), I had some trepidations about taking classes on the island. I was concerned about being overwhelmed and felt a bit intimidated. Lal diffused my fears as soon... More

I have been doing yoga for many years and have experienced many different teachers and styles of yoga. What I found really interesting and unique about the Vastu yoga approach is that the instructors brought me back to a more traditional series of yoga positions based on Sivananda teachings. They also, explained some of the philosophy behind traditional yoga and... More

I made it to 3 classes during my 2 week stay and I only wish I could have gone to more. The most beautiful studio I have ever practised in. The instructor Laul ( sorry spelling) was so inspiring and I loved the sequence of the class. I would highly recommend this class to anyone. Can't wait to go back... More

I was honestly surprised by the content of the Sivananda classes offered by Vastu, and do not believe their class is appropriately tailored to travelers who come to the mat with different skill levels and physical abilities. I took two nearly identical classes with two different instructors during the same week last year and this year. I am a yoga... More
