We booked a tour on the main strip in Cancun from a very friendly guy who gave us a huge discount. We were picked up by shuttle bus at 7.15 am right on time to go to Chichen Itza. I hate tours and only went because I did not want to drive in Mexico and I was unfamiliar with everything.... more

My boyfriend and I booked a private day tour of Chichen Itza and Ek Balam from Cancun JW Marriott. It took about 3 hours to drive their however we were not bored. Carlos Diaz was our private Tour guide. We found him recommended on Trip Advisor and we were very pleased with the tour. He picked us up at the... more

We booked a tour through cancuncare.com to see this amazing place which limited the time we got to spend there. We stayed in Cancun and there is a well maintained toll road going to Chichen Itza (pronounced chi-CHIN ITS-ha, not chicken pizza). The ruins were amazingly in tact and the guide was quite knowledgeable. If you go by car, there... more

This review is actually not of Playa del Carmen the city, or even of Chichen-Itza, per se, but of our guide and driver in the area: Carlos Diaz, a private guide par excellence in 'Playa.' We located Carlos through an effusively positive review here on Trip Advisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g150808-d153407-r46677803-Chichen_Itza_Ruins-Chichen_Itza_Yucatan_Peninsula.html) and were delighted to have a similarly great experience with Carlos, a... more

Booked this tour through Best Day. It is worth the 11-12 hour day. Bus left at 8am, we were entertained on the 2 1/2 hour trip down by our tour guide on the bus, he spoke both English and Spanish. First stop was the Cenote for a 1 hour swim. This was an amazing view and experience and the water... more

I went to Mexico twice this year, and the second time was with my 17 year old son. So I insisted on returning to Chichen Itza so he would have the chance to experience it too. The first time this year, my husband and I had booked the Chichen Itza Plus tour from our hotel in Cancun (we waited to... more

I went to Riviera Maya in January 2009. We stayed at a hotel in Playa de Carmen. We had a short vacation, only 5 days. We were thinking if we should go to chichen itza or not. They told us that it will take only 3h to get there. Such a lie...it took almost 6h. For one thing the excursions... more

We booked out tour throught Discount Cancun Tours website at $50 a person..awesome deal. The tour bus picked us up a tour hotel in downtown PDC even though we were the only couple close to that area. The tour guide Jimmy was hillarious. This is definitely a long day so plan to wear comfortable shoes etc. and be ready to... more

The actual ruins were trully a wonder to behold. The biggest draw back was the lines of vendors. There were literally hundreds of local people lining every path and running up to you the entire tour trying to sell merchandise. It really detracted from the spectacular ruins. It was also very, very hot. Some benches would have been nice. Our... more

My husband and I booked a private day tour of Chichen Itza and Ek Balam from Playa Del Carmen with Carlos Diaz. We got his name from Tripadvisor forums and we were so impressed. We would highly recommend him and his services. Carlos was really wonderful and took us through mayan villages on top of the ruins included in our... more
