We should have set aside more time for the museum, since it is vast and covers so much. The lower floor is pre-Columbian history and artifacts, including famous Aztec and Maya pieces that we've only seen in books. The second floor has contemporary cultures, including clothing and art. This is one of the highlights of Mexico City. The museum has an extraordinary collection recording the wonderful pre-Colombian history of Mexico. It is organized by civilization. Definitely do not miss the Mayan and Aztec collections. For me Pakal's funerary mask and other objects downstairs in the Mayan section is the absolute highlight. More

It is a huge museum, very well organized and explained. The best way to do it is with audio guides. The Aztec and Mayan exhibition halls are the most important ones. We have visited over 25 ancient sites in Mexico, this brings it all together. We spent most of a day there but it deserves more if have the time. Beautifully laid out and breath taking to see. More

Do not mis this very nice museum where you can see a lot about the precolombian people of Mexico and learn a lot about them. ou need at least 2 hours to enjoy the exhibitions. It is a must in addition to the visit of the major sites in the country More

One of the great museums of the world. A fantastic journey through Mexico's early history. Excellent presentations of some of the most incredible artifacts you will ever see. More

Puts other museums to shame and the three best collections are the Mexican, Mayan, and the Oaxaca collections. Absolutely a must see. More
