We stayed close by to the Marina area and were impressed by the good choice of places to eat and drink, it was a nice break away from the crowds and very touristy area of downtown which was nice but it was a relief to get back to a more tranquil area. Be firm with the peddlers, keep walking by... More

I just spent the month of March at Marina Vallarta. I rented a room in a condo, through airbnb.com for a mere $400 a month. It was adequate! I found that Wednesday nights there were FREE movies on the Marina's Malecon (walk) at 7:00 pm, on Thursdays there is an artisans market from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with home... More

We spent a few hours strolling the Marina and having lunch and probably will not return unless going directly to a specific restaurant. Every shop person is out bombarding you to come into their business and the number of time share representatives out bugging you is frustrating!

There is plenty of restaurants to eat at here. Lots of shopping, especially on Thursday nights when local crafts & food is sold. I believe it starts at 6pm and goes till about 9pm. If you're into handcrafted gifts & specialty good then make sure to visit. Great fun!

Marina Puerto Vallarta is located just a short bus ride from the hotel zone or Malecon, a few minutes (.65 Pesos) at the northern end of the hotel zone. Catch a bus running north with Marina as one of its listed locations. In the Marina you will find a boardwalk with many little cafes and shops, as well as many... More

Just a short bus-ride/Taxi to downtown, and far enough from the clubs, and yahoo spring breakers. :) Beautiful sunrises/sunsets, boats, and restaurants!

Don't miss Thursday evenings on the Marina in PuertoVallarta. One hundred+ stalls line the magestic Marina selling local Mexican crafts, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, organic food products, soaps, coffee from different locals in Mexico...the list is endless. A beautiful way to spend a Thursday...walk the Marina from end-to-end, look at beautiful Mexican products and boats, take in the sunset from the... More

Spent two weeks at the Melia hotel and found that I really enjoyed the proximity of the Marina. For me the biggest thing is having an interesting extended walk just two minutes from my hotel. Sure the tour people are trying to entice you to try their service but that is just a "holiday factor". Try walking down Las Vegas... More

I've seen much nicer marina areas in other destinations. The reality is that a stroll in this area turns out to be more stress than its worth with all the harassing you'll get at each step for restaurants/ time share/ tours etc. hard to enjoy the little sights there are with that mixed in. There is also a pretty fowel... More

Even if you don't like boats, the Marina area is nice and safe. Not nearly as crowded as downtown. It's 6.5 pesos bus ride from downtown though, and $5 cab to the airport.
