A walk along the malecon serves many functions. It is a good exercise, especially if you pick up the pace. It has eccentric statutes to appreciate. If you are hungry, a spot of food stalls, which by the way is right in front of the rock divers. Last but not least, it is the spot to watch the sunset.

This was awesome to watch the cliff divers, but they expect you to pay to watch them. They will even follow you even though you gave the money to one jumper.

A bit disappointed compared to Puerto Vallarto. No accessibility to beach as it is all rocks, missed the sand sculptures, mimes, etc.

The malecon is not as spruced up or commercial as that in Puerto Vallarta. Rather it is a seawall several kilometers long, above the beach. At the north end is the Zona Dorada, the gold tourist zone. At the south end is the fishermen's beach. About midway are several palapa-style seafood restaurants. A pleasant walk one can enjoy with a... More

All along the Malecon you can enjoy people enjoying themselves. Plenty to see, from fishermen working the boats and sorting their catch to seniors getting in their daily exercise. Lots of dogs and their walkers...everyone smiling

If it's not to hot and sticky, a great walk. We took from Plaza Machado going North to the Fisherman's statue. Beautiful beach. Gorgeous staues. And enough places to stop, if you require a libation or hydration.

The malecon stretches from the old historic area of Mazatlan to the start of the gold zone. It is a VERY WIDE sidewalk that follows the ocean all the way. There are always people on it, both Mexicans and tourists, walking, running, skateboarding, rollerblading, or just sitting and contemplating the sun and sea, or visiting with friends. If you are... We enjoy walking on the Malecon. Sometimes we start at Valentino's and walk until we decide that we should turn around while we can still make it back without taking transportation. We also enjoy going down to the Olas Alta's area and walk. Be sure and go around sunset for some spectacular picture.
