The fort is easy to find and you can tour it w/o a guide. The displays are in Spanish and English (mostly) and very informative. Never knew that Acapulco was a trade route to the orient, which is what they focused on. Most people see the fort in 1 hour, but we took 2.

Lots of interesting facts in this quaint, small museum at the fort. Closed on Mondays. Not far from the Zocalo, so you can do the fort in the morning, visit the Catedral at the Zocalo next and then have the pizza!

Our tour guide and driver, Juan Corona took us here and we loved it. I am a history buff and soaked in the displays and stories of the forts creation, service, and fall during the Mexican War of Independence in 1812.

Loved that this fortress was turned into a museum...it was so cool to see the way people protected themselves in the 1600s. Very fun and educational part of our trip.

a lot of visitors to Acapulco don't even know that the fort is there even though they pass by on the Costera. Take the time to go. It is well worth it.

When we pulled up to the front, I thought we were just looking at the building, which was interesting. But when you get inside, the artifacts are amazing. The whole place is air conditioned, which really helped when it was 100 outside. They have displays of pottery, clothing, weapons, and the original chapel. Beautiful.

A visit to this museum will provide an insight to the history and development of Acapulco like nothing else. The items on exhibit are phenomenal and well organized. Several rooms are set aside to tell a specific aspect of a portion of the area's history, and this description is complete with magnificent exhibits and narrative.
