Best to travel by car if not staying nearby. We "rescued" other snorkelers/beach goers both days we visited over the Christmas holidays. We were surprised that some walked down Grace Bay Beach without shoes, water, sun protective clothing to get here. Over the holidays, the wind meant that several people weren't snorkeling since water was a bit rough (made my... More

I can't say enough about Smith's Reef. There are 5 distinct coral gardens to explore. The best way to access the beach is to park at 68... head down Bridge Road, cross the bridge, turn left at the T-intersection, then park by 68. Just before reaching 68 is a path through the underbrush. When you exit the path, you will... More

As most folks mention, it's not easy to find if you have not done your research. There are several near-shore reefs loosely lumped together as Smith's Reef. This link should help you. http://www.visittci.com/providenciales/what-to-do/snorkeling.aspx#TurtleCoveMap Once you cross the bridge on Bridge Road at Turtle Cove, you can turn left, go to the end, park at the beach access (sand lot), walk... The reef was a little hard to find, we followed one review that said to go to the right after reaching the marina, but after asking a local, turns out it was to the left! We walked over to the right once reaching the beach after the parking area. Once we got to the point, near a white buoy we... More

We spent two days of our trip trying many of the wonderful snorkel spots. We found Smith's Reef to be the best during our time. Of course Provo has so many great snorkel spots it gets hard to pick. But while there we saw more different kinds of fish than anywhere else. I even saw a Lion fish. The water... More

It was pretty easy to find, just make sure you walk down the beach until you see a sign for protecting the coral. It was pretty empty, only one other couple there. Way less crowded that Coral Gardens. We saw a flounder (only place on the islands that we saw one) and a turtle, along with many other fish. More

We were fortunate enough to be staying within walking distance of Smith's Reef, so we went snorkeling here three times. There are quite a few different patches of reef to explore (we only found the map of the reef locations after we returned home, unfortunately), and if you're lucky you may see some larger animals swimming in the grass in... Smith's Reef is AMAZING. I highly recommend it. The water is a bit rough though. Park at #68 Coconut Road and then look for a path through the bushes to the water. It's not obvious but you can always make your own. Simplest way in. The snorkeling is as good as Coral Gardens - and a lot less crowded. If... More

Snorkelled on Smith's Reef today and Bight Reef yesterday. Both are similar in that the current is strong at both locations so you'll need to be a strong swimmer and I'd advise wearing flippers. You might also want to wear a T-shirt because the water can get cold after a while. Of the two we preferred Smith's Reef for these... More

Found Smiths reef pretty easily, from Grace Bay hotel area, took the main road (not Leeward hwy) north and followed signs to turtle bay area. Turn right at Green Bean coffee shop. Road goes about a block to a T intersection. You can go left or right to a public access. Go right if u want to hang on the... More
