Everyone will tell you, there is no better way to explore the wilder side of our island. Our guided two-hour ride takes you through the hills, open meadows, woods, river bottoms and beaches of the Esperanza area. We begin at a walk, but quickly move up to the paso (a smoother version of the trot), followed by some cantering (especially up hills!). We offer rides at 8:00 am and 4:00 pm; to avoid mid-day heat. The cost is $70 per person, cash only. Reservations are required and don't forget your camera! Please refer to our website for more information. « less

What a great way to spend a few hours on Vieques! We took the early morning ride and it was wonderful, especially riding on the beach. Lori, our guide with the lovely Georgia drawl, was knowledgeable and patient with the varying skill levels in our group. Highly recommended.

This was the most amazing trail ride--This was my first time riding a horse and Darcy and Lori made this a memory I will never forget!!!! Our group of 6 consisted of beginners to experienced riders and without ever meeting us the ladies picked out horses that suited our riding skills and our personalities perfectly--The ride was amazing!!! Thank you... More

WOW what a day! We came to PR for day one and flew to Vieques for days two and three. The purpose of our trip? To have the most memorable elopement possible... Was it the MOST memorable? ABSOLUTELY. HUGE thanks to Elizabeth! My wife contacted her beforehand and proposed our crazy idea to get married on horseback on Playa Negra.... More

I went on a the full ride with ERC a few years back with my husband and we loved the whole experience. Elizabeth let us run the horses on the beach and boy was that fun! This trip we had the kids with us and not sure they are ready for a 3 hour tour, so we let them do... More

We had a group of 8, with a variety of riding abilities. Elizabeth was very careful in pairing horse and rider, and clearly knows her animals well. We rode on trails, the road, a couple of beaches and up into the hills. It was a great couple of hours! While most of the trip was at a walk, we did... More

It's hard to describe how great this adventure was. This was the most fun thing I did on Vieques. The whole tour was very entertaining from introduction all through riding through the last pasture. We had a really fun group and had many laughs while riding. Enjoyed it much more than bio-bay. Loved going up and down hills, checking out... More

Riding the passofinos of Vieques was one of the things I most looked forward to on our trip to Vieques. We were a group of four, myself and my husband and our two teenage daughters. I was the most experienced rider and my husband has only ridden a few times. Everyone felt very secure on their horse which allowed them... More

Elizabeth is very passionate about what she does and is thorough in the introduction. She adores her horses and it shows - they are in very good condition and are very happy. The rides are either early morning or late afternoon so they don't have to suffer the heat of the day. We started riding along the road through the... More

Wherever you go on Vieques, you see islanders moving smoothly along on the backs of small, sturdy horses. You can't help but wish you could experience the same clearly divine movement. Well, you can at Esperanza Riding Company. Elizabeth and her crew offer trail rides twice a dy (morning and evening) on wonderfully cared for Puerto Rican Paso Fino horses.... More
