We enjoyed this 2 ½ hour trip up the Indian River, lined with bloodroot trees and lush greenery, with glimpses of iguanas, crabs, hummingbirds and other wildlife. Mid-way we had a stop with a short walk to harvest bay leaves, coconut and ginger plant, and sample some of the locally grown fruits. Highly recommend our personable and experienced guide, Martin... This was a peaceful meander up the Indian River with a local guide. It was certainly one of the most "touristy" feeling things we did in Dominica, as you had to be rowed by a guide. But the local guides are friendly and capable and we had a nice relaxing time. Be careful when you pick your guide to get... More

Paid US$15 each for a personal guided tour of the river lasting c1 hour. Guide/boatman friendly and informative. Refreshment/viewing stop at end a bit underwhelming albeit fresh fruit juice good. Useful way of seeing river environment up close. Get the feeling (as with many other tourist sites in Dominica) that this needs better management by tourist authorities to develop its... More

Regrettably this was the only uninteresting and unentertaining stops on a two-week trip all over this beautiful Island. A short ride up a brackish river with mangrove trees for $100 EC seemed like a great way to do something more laid-back after so much hiking and swimming. It probably would have been better if we got someone else to row... More

The Indian River is lined with beautiful mangrove trees and is home to numerous fish and wildlife. It is worth seeing, but we also found the boat trip to be a bit touristy. More

He owns the bar and he is the best guide. I used to use him to do tours for me when I was an excursion leader. By far the best of the best. And the river isn't bad either. More

Beautiful and relaxing row up the Indian River. Our guide, Roy, was informative and friendly. We could clearly see mullet swimming in the clear, pleasantly colored brackish water. Roy pointed out where scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed on the river and answered all of our questions. He also made a bird and fish of palm blades (like... More
